Senior Linux Systems Engineer (On-Premise and Cloud)

You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our Linux-based systems, while also contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure.

Our SaaS solutions for semantic search and document understanding are being used internationally by thousands of customers, and their 24×7 availability and integrity are crucial to our business and reputation. We need your experience and enthusiasm to help us operate, standardize and optimize the lower levels of our infrastructure.

Your responsibilities

• You will work in a team of highly skilled engineers, to:

• Achieve uptime >99.99%.

• Manage and expand the physical servers, OS's and networks in multiple datacenters, including our AWS cloud platforms.

• Understand a complex technical architecture with a high degree of customisation.

• Operate and improve our automation tooling.

• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation schedule.

• Provide a flexible infrastructure to the rest of the company

• Work with a DevOps mindset with other teams within the company to bring our products to a large number of corporate customers worldwide.

• Manage & Support our Cloud Infrastructure to:

• Design, deploy (via Terraform), and manage AWS cloud infrastructure components (EC2 instances, VPC, EKS, S3, EFS, etc.).

• Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency and performance.

• Monitor and maintain high availability and fault tolerance of cloud services.

• Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.

Who you are

• Flexible and able to focus despite many distractions.

• BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science (or related field) with proven experience as a Linux System Engineer or similar role, managing both on-premise and cloud infrastructure.

• A diverse 1000-server infrastructure does not scare you – it inspires you.

• Fluent in English – and one or more programming/scripting languages such as Bash or Python.

• Some knowledge of network and (distributed) storage technology (e.g. VLANs, RSTP, VXLAN, DNS, Ceph, LVM, NVMe).

• Hands-on experience with physical servers and datacenter setups. Able to create hardware configurations ready to order.

• Able to set up and modify provisioning methods for both physical and virtual servers.

• Hands-on experience with high volume web-based infrastructures and virtualisation (haproxy, VRRP, Proxmox, KVM, Pfsense).

• Hands-on experience and/or certification on CentOS/RedHat/Rocky.

• Hands-on experience in managing AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, VPC, EKS, S3, EFS, etc.) and familiarity with AWS services.

• Capable of designing for 99.9+% uptime.

• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (Proxmox, KVM) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience in configuration management (mainly Ansible).

• Experience in IaC (mainly Terraform)

• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix / Prometheus / Grafana / Cloudwatch).
